Health Problems in Traveling
There are three common health problems when traveling. Those are jet lag, altitude sickness, and diarrhea. When flying through a series of time zone, you receive a different amount of light that can change the biological body clock. This is causing the condition known as jet lag. Jet lag can cause some symptoms such as stomach pain, insomnia, and fatigue.
There are a few things how to prevent jet lag, for example, if running from west to east, do not be in the sun beam on the first day of arrival. If you fly from east to west, go walking as soon as possible after you arrive.
Altitudes sickness is caused by dry air, reduced of oxygen, and the low barometric pressure when you fly or walk to height level that is higher than before. As a result, you may be experiencing problems such as headaches, dehydration, or shortness of breath.
The best prevention is increasing your altitude level gradually every day to be adapted with the condition. If this is not possible, use the acetazolamide. This drugs can help you to eliminate and even prevent the altitude sickness.
Diarrhea may be more visible and therefore are considered negligible. But diarrhea can be a serious problem. Diarrhea for the traveler is known as turista. Diarrhea often occurs when the foreign bacteria enter your channel digestion. It is usually because of the foods or drinks that are contaminated. The best way to prevent turista is be careful of the foods and drinks during the trip.
